Suffolk

Find out more about the area

Set on the stunning Suffolk Heritage Coast, Aldeburgh is a classic seaside town with a rich maritime history and a real sense of character. Once a busy Tudor port and shipbuilding hub, today it’s known for its pastel-coloured houses, shingle beach and strong connection to the arts, particularly the Aldeburgh Festival founded by Benjamin Britten.

Aldeburgh has become a bit of a foodie destination, famous for its fresh seafood straight from the beach huts and some of the best fish and chips in the country, alongside great pubs, cafés and independent restaurants.

The surrounding area is perfect for exploring on two wheels, with quiet coastal lanes, estuary paths and routes linking through Snape, Thorpeness and beyond. The town sits right on regional cycle routes and close to the Suffolk Coast Path, making it ideal for relaxed rides with big skies, wildlife and beautiful scenery all around.
