Pedalling Toward a Greener Future: EEZYBIKE partners with Babergh District Council

EEZYBIKE has joined forces with Babergh District Council to bring its award-winning e-bike rental system near to the Sudbury Leisure Centre.

Launched in May 2025, the new EEZYBIKE installation allows residents and visitors to hire e-bikes just a short walk from Sudbury Train Station and the Kingfisher Leisure Centre. The public can now explore the Gainsborough Trail and surrounding countryside and roads with ease, enjoying a cleaner, healthier mode of active travel.

This second installation follows the resounding success of the initial EEZYBIKE pilot in Needham Lake with Mid Suffolk District Council in 2024. Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with consistent 5-star ratings on TripAdvisor, highlighting the scheme’s convenience, user-friendliness and environmental impact.

The initiative supports Babergh District Council’s ongoing mission to reduce carbon emissions and promote active lifestyles, given that road vehicles accounted for 90% of transport emissions.

The Kingfisher Centre solar-powered e-bike pod delivers a seamless user experience. Riders simply book online, receive a unique access code, and unlock the pod at their scheduled time. Returning the bike is just as straightforward.

Si Cooper, EEZYBIKE founder, said:

“We are delighted to be helping Babergh Council implement its vision for active travel and sustainable travel. May was the hottest May on record, made five times more likely by climate change. Our e-bikes help the public and businesses reduce greenhouse emissions by 90%, provide health benefits and can help encourage modal shift. EEZYBIKE is proud to have won several awards for our e-bike innovation. We are thrilled to be a part of this movement toward a greener, healthier future and look forward to expanding our collaboration with councils and communities across the UK.”
